Migration Quest
OBJECTIVE
Migration Quest is a children's board game by the non-profit Ocean Connectors to educate children about endangered aquatic migratory species. The board game targets environmentally-conscious families, with children ages 8–12. I designed Migration Quest in collaboration with Giuliana Schroeder.
APPROACH
In contrast to most board games, Migration Quest plays from top to bottom as the animals migrate south. To give the game a balance of scientific accuracy and approachability, we created simplified illustrations of migratory species. Because Ocean Connectors focuses on sustainability, we were challenged with producing a completely plastic-free game. Due to these constraints, the board breaks down into a puzzle rather than a folded and laminated option. All parts of the game are either recycled, recyclable, and/or compostable.
